Midnight Talks, Family Urban Legends, as the title suggests, is a chapbook created about my Mexican background. This book documents urban legends that were told as part of my childhood.
Prepared to be spooked!
The book was bound in a Japanese style. It creates a more crafty look and therefore becomes more personal.
The layout throughout the book includes Spanish and English translations to commemorate the original quotes from my family members.
Insights
This chapbook is important to me. My research included interviewing my family members for their own stories and their own experiences.
I wanted to include the Spanish versions of their quotes as well to make the book more interesting. This led me to use transparent paper which creates an elegant look to the chapbook.
I also enjoyed the process of bounding a book, which I have never done before, but ended up loving it enough to make more chapbooks.
